CrossFit is a Constantly Varied core fitness program that uses Functional Movements executed at High Intensity. This allows the human body to improve performance and capacity in each of the ten recognized fitness domains: Cardiovascular & Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance and Accuracy.
Constantly Varied means that no “routines” are followed. Workouts change each day. This does not mean “random”. Random means there is an opportunity for fitness domains to be left out. With Constantly Varied programming all 10 domains of fitness are worked on through a deliberate fitness program. You no longer need to search the internet and body building magazines to find a “routine”. We are doing that for you. when you walk into the Box the workout you will be performing will be on the white board.
Functional Movements are movements found in actions of everyday life and movements the human body was designed to perform. Whether you are sitting down, carrying children, running a race, playing a sport, or performing your duties as a policeman, fireman, or in the armed forces, these movements are integral to our everyday lives. In a fitness center you normally do not see functional movements performed. A Globo-gym will tell you hitting the stair-master for 30 minutes then 3 sets of 10 curls is functional movement. How often in everyday life do you perform the movement of a strict curl (never)? Functional movements are compound movements that engage the entire body to create significant neuroendocrine responses when performed at high intensity.
High Intensity means we perform workouts that couple weightlifting, gymnastics, and monostructural exercises (running, rowing, etc.) and form a workout and the workout is designed to be performed within a certain time limit or as fast as possible. Performing workouts for time or performing a certain amount of movements in a given period of time naturally raises the intensity of the workout. High intensity is also relative to each individuals fitness level. CrossFit’s high intensity workouts are designed to maximize and increase the 10 fitness domains. Regardless of age and occupation, your fitness needs are the same as professional athletes and mail men. Through careful training and proper training, CrossFit can teach anyone to improve their fitness level which transfers to other activities in life, improving the bodies ability to perform tasks more effectively and efficiently.
